ISO/TC 43/SC 2 N 1644, ISO/PWI 10534-2 Acoustics - Determination of properties in impedance tubes - Part 2: 2-microphone technique for normal sound absorption coefficient and normal surface impedance

Scope

This test method covers the use of an impedance tube, two microphone locations and a digital frequency analysis system for the determination of the sound absorption coefficient of sound absorbers for normal sound incidence. It can also be applied for the determination of the acoustical surface impedance or surface admittance of sound absorbing materials as well as the intrinsic properties of acoustical materials such as their characteristic impedance, characteristic wavenumber, dynamic mass density and dynamic bulk modulus.

Purpose

The proposal main purpose is to add the possibility to assess bulk properties of materials (in an informative annex). Some additional minor corrections or updates are required on the text which dates back to 1998.
