This document gives guidelines for coding synthetic rubber.
This document is applicable to general purpose synthetic rubber. This document is not applicable to speciality synthetic rubber and synthetic rubber latex.
NOTE It is not intended that materials with the same codification have the same properties.
According to the statistics of International Institute of Synthetic Rubber Producers,Inc. (IISRP), the global production capacity of synthetic rubber was 21,415 kilotons in 2018.
There are many codes for each type of synthetic rubber. Presently, there is no ISO standard for the codification of synthetic rubber. Manufactures use different codes for the same product, for example, BR9000 by PetroChina, BR01 by JSR, KBR01 by KKPC, CB10 by LANXESS, and BR 1208 by Goodyear, which is not beneficial for the regulation of the synthetic rubber market.
The purpose of this proposal is to establish a codification system for synthetic rubber, which gives guidelines for coding the synthetic rubbers. It will provide convenience for the users to choose suitable products and promote the development of synthetic rubber market.
