In recent years, People always focus on the new tyres while evaluating the performance of wet, ice and snow grip. In fact, the tyres are mainly used in the worn state. So we should pay more attention on the wet, ice and snow grip performance of worn tyres. Tread groove depth of tyres has a very important impact on the wet, ice and snow grip performance. A new tyre has a completely different grip performance with a tyre whose tread depth drops after a certain amount of driving .From the perspective of the whole life cycle of tyres, it is one-sided to use the grip performance of new tyres to represent the grip performance of tyres. Some studies shown that wet, ice and snow grip performance of tyres has a significant decline during the decrease of tread groove depth. However, with the decrease of tread depth, the related performance of different tyres decreases to different degrees, and there is no correlation with the grip performance of new tyres. But there is a certain correlation between the wearing tyre and the grinding tyre on the grip performance. So it is of great significance to study the wet, ice and snow grip performance of tyres after artificially worn.
In combination with the development of relevant national standards, we have organized domestic and foreign enterprises to carry out relevant verification tests. The test shows that the grinding standards of tyres affects the stability and consistency of the performance test of worn tyres. This standard specifies the preparation of artificially worn tyres and ensures the consistency of the test tyres. It also provides the basis for study of tyre performance after grinding and plays a positive role in promoting the driving safety of tyres.
