Scope
This newly proposal specifies test methods for flight performance of civil light and small fixed-wing UAS and its components (with maximum take-off weight more than 0.25 kg and less than 150 kg); other type of UAS can also be implemented by reference. The guideline includes scope, normative references, terms and definitions, test items, test methods, and reports.
Purpose
In recent years, Civil light and small fixed-wing UAS has developed rapidly and widely used in applications such as electric power, mapping, public security etc. Flight performance indicators are important in testing the operation of UAS, but products with quality from good to bad are intermingled. There is a strong demand for product testing and certification. At present, different countries have different test methods, there is no unified standard to improve the product quality, reliability and safety of the whole fixed-wing UAS. Therefore, it is necessary to integrate test method into international standard.
Test methods for flight performance of civil light and small fixed-wing UAS improve safe and stable flying.
For manufacturers, it guides the researchdevelopmentmanufactureand testing of UAS; strengthen the market access criteria for civilian UAS.
For users, it improves the cost performance of equipment; lower the difficulty of operation and maintenance of UAS.
For inspectors and researchers, it provides authoritative basis and more standardized products for reference.
