ISO/TC 20/SC 16 N 299, ISO/NP 5332 Test methods for civil lightweight and small UAS under low pressure conditions

Scope

This newly proposal specifies test methods for civil lightweight and small UAS under low pressure condition (with maximum take-off weight more than 0.25 kg and less than 150 kg). The guideline includes scope, normative references, definitions, test devices, test methods, and reports. The test methods contain low pressures with low temperatures and low pressures with high temperatures.

Purpose

Nowadays, the market for civil lightweight and small UAS has developed rapidly, from consumer to industrial grade, unmanned aircraft has been used in various applications like electric power, agriculture, environment monitoring and so on. Whether UA can fly properly on plateau areas is crucial because low pressure environment with low temperature will reduce the working efficiency of UAS, new products are sent to first test on high altitude environment in order to get better flight performance. However, due to the lack of scientific and effective testing sites and methods, there are strong demands for evaluation and certification. For safe and reliable flying, it is necessary to formulate a unified standard.

Test methods for civil lightweight and small UAS under low pressure conditions improve safe and stable flying.

For manufacturers, it guides the researchdevelopmentmanufactureand testing of UAS; strengthen the market access criteria for civilian UAS.

For users, it improves the cost performance of equipment; lower the difficulty of operation and maintenance of UAS.

For inspectors and researchers, it provides authoritative basis and more standardized products for reference.

Consider the following: Is there a verified market need for the proposal? What problem does this standard solve? What value will the document bring to end-users?
