CEN/TC 33 N 3921, Revision of EN 14202:2004 - Blinds and shutters - Suitability for use of tubular and square motorizations - Requirements and test methods

Scope

This European Standard specifies the requirements and tests to be performed for electric tubular or square drives without driven part, to be applied to power operated blinds and shutters, in addition to their conformity to the electrical safety requirements specified in EN 60335-1 and EN 60335-2-97. It does not apply to drives with driven part.

Purpose

The main goal for this revision is to address the following issues:

1. The current test method cannot be used for drives with very high and very low torques (e.g. interior application);

2. The torque applied to the motors on the bench does not represent the “real” torque when complete products are operated, especially in the case of folding arm awnings;

3. The number of cycles carried out on motors are in some cases different to those applied to complete products to assign an endurance class;

4. Battery powered products are not addressed while they now represent an important part of the market, especially for the renovation market.
