CEN/TC 33 N 3920, Building hardware - Technical specification for master key system data protection

Scope

This document gives guidelines for data protection throughout the whole process of planning, manufacturing, delivering and managing Master Key Systems.

Purpose

Master Key Systems fulfil high requirements for mechanical cylinder security. They realize organizational access requirements with keys having different levels of access rights within the system. Keys with high-level access rights can operate high numbers of openings or even give access to a complete system also in critical applications. The loss or unauthorized creation of a key copy can cause significant security implications. To avoid such risks it is important to protect and track data of people assigned to keys and key coding details. The proposal for a new WI aims at creating a technical standard defining data protection measures and requirements throughout the whole process of planning, manufacturing, delivering and managing Master Key Systems.
