Scope

This European Standard specifies the procedure for the determination of releasable alkali content in aggregates or siliceous fillers for the manufacture of concrete and mortar. This document is applicable to natural aggregates, lightweight aggregates and recycled aggregates.

Purpose

Development of a New European wide test method for the determination of releasable alkali content of aggregates, to assist in the limiting of Alkali silica reaction in Concrete. Test method required for CEN/TC 154 to fulfil ASR Requirements of Mandate M125 within two aggregate product standards EN 12620 and EN 13139.
