Scope
This document defines the general requirements of Manufacturing Readiness Review (MRR). The process covers review initiation, implementation, and post activities. The requirements address production process readiness, product qualification, production documentation, configuration, product assurance management, production site status.
It is applicable to Manufacturing Readiness Review management for first flight product, as necessary.
Purpose
Manufacturing readiness review (MRR) is a formal review of a project to determine if the design and process is ready for manufacturing, if manufacturing risk has been identified and revolved, and the organization has adequately planned for manufacturing phase. It is conducted during the phases of space product development.
This proposal describes the timing, principles, procedures, and main work contents and requirements of MRR. MRR is an effective activity to determine whether the manufacturing basis documents are integrated and complete before first flight product is put into production, and whether the status of the first flight product is consistent with the status of the qualification product, and to provide criteria for manufacturing start-up. MRR helps to assure the whole process of manufacturing smooth, and production delivery on time. Besides, MRR helps to identify and mitigate the production risks associated with production technologies, products, and processes.
It is significant and practical for reducing the repetition of the first flight products, as applicable, due to changes in configuration, shortening the development cycle, and stabilizing product quality, while ensuring that the supplier can fulfill the contract requirements.
This proposal is also a further refinement and support for the quality assurance activities.
