Scope

The technical specification specifies methods of determining the energy efficiency electric powered hoists.

The technical specification is applicable to electric motor powered hoists. Used in lifting motions. This technical specification is not applicable for hydraulic or pneumatic powered hoists.

This technical specification does not cover energy aspects, such as: Separately powered brakes, fans, warning system etc.

Purpose

The purpose of this proposal is to reduce the energy consumption of electric hoists to protect the environment and promote sustainable development. A large number of electric hoists are produced all over the world each year, so such standard is necessary for technical and economic communication. The standard specifies methods that can help the producers and users to determine the energy efficient of the electric hoists, further more to saving the cost of operation and facilitating trade.
