CEN/TC 203 Life cycle costs (LCC) and Life cycle assessment (LCA) for ductile iron pipe systems

Scope

Inspired on the International standards ISO 21053 part 1 LCC, the proposed EN standard will be enriched with additional sections:

‒ to define the Reference Service Life (RSL), Functional Units, safety criteria’s for water supply service, parameters of in-used conditions.

‒ to clarify the conditions of validity of data’s (published, home data’s…)

‒ to introduce concept of Circular Economy and Recyclability of Ductile Iron pipelines.

Purpose

To create a European Standard for “Life cycle cost (LCC) and Life cycle assessment (LCA) for ductile iron pipe systems”, including a “circular economy” section, in order

1/ to clarify concepts of LCC, LCA, RSL, functional unit …,

2/ To enlighten benefits of DI pipe,

3/ to support customers and users to optimize DI pipe solutions with objective global cost evaluation, safety requirements and environmental criteria’s

Justified because of a strong demand in the market and the capability of the group that fortunately has a team with experts from 8 different European countries working in ISO and CEN related committees.
