EN 17038-4, Activation of preliminary work item EN 17038-4 âPumps - Methods of qualification and verification of the Energy Efficiency Index for rotodynamic pump units - Part 4: Testing and calculation

Scope

The proposed Part 4 of the series of standards on energy efficiency index (EEI) of pump units focusses on multistage submersible pump units for boreholes. These are a special type of single pump units, i.e. they consist of a hydraulic and of an electric part.

Part 4 will give special definitions (e.g. reference flow-time profiles, reference pressure control curves and the reference electric power input) that have to be applied when determining the energy efficiency index (EEI) of multistage submersible pump units. Also Part 4 will describe two methods and procedures how to determine the energy efficiency index (EEI) of multistage submersible pump units in the frame of qualification or verification. One of the methods consists of testing the complete pump unit and of corresponding evaluations. The alternative method uses a so-called semi-analytical (i.e. mathematical) model (SAM) of the respective type of multistage submersible pump unit and is a specialization of the model and method described in Part 2 of the series of Standard for other types of single pump units.

Purpose

This standard applicable for multistage submersible pump units for boreholes will respond to real market needs.
