ISO/TC 61/SC 11 N 1691, ISO/NP 5102 Fiber reinforced plastics-a small modular framework-requirements and test methods

Scope

This document specifies requirements and test methods for small modular framework made of fiber reinforced plastics.

This document applies to a small framework made of fiber reinforced plastics. The framework is modular design with a series of standard prefabricated elements and is available to quick on-site installation. The framework has the double safety effect of climbing protection and static protection. The framework is suitable for work places with fragile and easily broken objects nearby (such as glass facade, ancient buildings, shopping malls, aircraft, etc.)potentially inductive workplaces (such as substations and electrified railways), etc.

The structure design of the framework is not involved in this document.

Purpose

The small modular framework made of fiber reinforced plastics have the advantages of light weight, high strength, convenient installation, corrosion resistance and good insulation. It is very suitable for quick on-site installation. More and more equipment installation and maintenance enterprises worldwide are willing to select small modular frameworks made of fiber reinforced plastics to provide double protection of ascending protection and static protection.

DIN EN 1004:2018, ANSI/ASSE A10.8:2011 and AS/NZS 1576.3:2015 is currently used as a rough reference standard for some enterprises producing fiber reinforce plastics frameworks, but these standards only cover products made of steel, aluminium alloy and bamboo/wood. Small modular framework made of fiber reinforced plastics requires high ability of mechanical performance, electrical performance, weathering resistance, fatigue resistance and impact resistance, while DIN EN 1004: 2018, ANSI/ASSE A10.8:2011 and AS/NZS 1576.3:2015 don’t cover these ability requirements. The lack or the disunity of product technical requirements and test methods may lead to potential safety hazards, mutual nonrecognition in different countries, and even cause unexpected international trade frictions. Therefore, it is urgently needed to develop such a comprehensive standard including technical requirements and test methods in order to ensure the product quality, the foundation of the unification of test technology for manufacturers and users and the application of fiber reinforced composite in the field of work protection.
