Purpose
Dry stack marinas, once an alternative way of storing recreational craft when not in use, have become a sustainable way to both letting the fleet grow and reduce the environmental impact of nautical tourism. Drystacks will be growing at high speed once governments, often restrictive with building close to the shore, realize what the new and advanced building and operations techniques allow to build these particular facilities with minimum CO2 footprint and very low visual impact, trend that has already started in the shores of the Mediterranean due to lack of berths for small craft. Well designed and operated drystacks are an example and implementation of an implicit code of practice to the average nautical tourist. The standard will take into account circular economy principles for design, safety, working with nature, integration with the environment, service to the community and promotion of best practices for nautical tourism. This norm can be considered a needed complement of the series ISO 13687- yacht harbors and ISO 21406 yacht harbors -luxury level.
