ISO/IEC PWI 5021-2, Information technology -- Telecommunications and information exchange between systems -- Wireless LAN Access Control -- Part 2: Technical specification for dispatching platform

Scope

This proposal is the 2nd part of “Information technology Telecommunications and information exchange between systems Wireless LAN Access Control”.

This proposal aims to develop the following Access Controller (AC) dispatching platform technical specifications in WLAN:

a) WLAN Networking Architecture of Cloud AC Dispatching Platform (CADP)

b) Working mechanism of AC distribution platform(ACDP)

c) Interface requirement between ACDP and peripheral equipment

d) Workflow for AP being online for the first time

e) Workflow for AP being online not for the first time

f) AP re scheduling workflow

g) AP backup switch mechanise

Purpose

With the development of WLAN technologies, especially AC virtualization and centralized deployment in the cloud, the previous one to one correspondence configuration model between AP and AC no longer meets the requirements. According to AC load conditions (for example: number of AP that is managed by AC, CPU utilization of AC equipment, number of accessed users and traffic, etc ), it is required to flexibly allocate appropriate AC for AP.

Since cloud AC distribution platform will be introduced into WLAN network, it is required to develop cloud AC distribution platform technical standards.
