This European technical specification specifies minimum requirements of a secure connection for remote access to alarm systems, for example fire safety systems, intruder and hold-up alarm systems, electronic access control systems, external perimeter security systems and video surveillance systems, social alarm systems, etc.
This technical specification specifies the requirements for the performance, reliability, integrity, and security characteristics of a Remote Access infrastructure.
This technical specification specifies the requirements for a Remote Access Infrastructure providing remote access between a remote access terminal and an alarm system at the supervised premises and may be either integrated as part of the ATS or a standalone system. In either case, the requirements of this European technical specification should apply.
This document does not cover the provision of remote services on the alarm systems.
The request for a standard on remote services originates from EURALARM and the work was split and delegated to several working groups; where TC/WG5 is focussing on the security requirements of remote access connections, and CEN/CENELEC JTC4 was tasked to produce a standard for remote services focussing on the professional services and processes. The work between TC79/WG5 is highly synchronized with CEN/CENELEC JTC4 and also with TC79/WG1 and TC79/WG3.
