ISO/TC 86/SC 6 - ISO/NP 4780 Heat recovery ventilators and energy recovery ventilators-Testing and calculating methods for seasonal performance factor--Part 1: Sensible heating recovery seasonal performance factors of HRV

Scope

This part of standard wants to provide a testing and calculating methods for heating seasonal performance factor of sensible heat recovery ventilator ruled by the ISO 16494.

Purpose

With the development of building energy saving, the more and more better building construction technology, such as high performance thermal isolate materials and building envelope air tightness as well as window sunshade product etc. are used for improving building energy efficiency. These result the HVAC load of building envelope decreases than before. These also result the fresh air energy consumption increases and the energy consumption ratio of fresh air to building envelope increase. Using the energy recovery ventilator is becoming one of primary methods used for keeping the better indoor air quality and decreasing the fresh air energy consumption.

The heat or energy recovery ventilators operate during the whole year continuously. The net capacity of heat or energy recovery maybe vary with its efficiency, bypass, compensate heat and operating strategy etc., due to existing ISO std. cannot match the requirements for more detailed assessment of the heat or energy performance in application cases for different seasons, which hinders the development and application of these energy saving technology and products, as well as the contribution for climate changewhich also doesn’t satisfy the demand of holistic assessment of building performance.

By using the results of NWI, the end-user can get the more energy saving product, governments can save more building energy consumption and reply to climate issue better.
