CEN/TC 144 - N 2216 Agricultural and forestry machinery – Light-signalling devices and installation on mounted implements

Scope

EN XXXXX:20xx applies to front and rear-mounted implements on agricultural and forestry tractors. It specifies the requirements for light-signalling devices to be installed on the implement for safe on-road use.

Purpose

The respective national requirements and regulations are currently applicable to the installation of lighting and light-signalling devices on mounted implements. Mounted implements are regarded as interchangeable equipment for the respective carrier vehicle and are therefore not covered by the relevant type approval procedures for road operation of tractors and mobile machinery. It is not intended to include them in these regulations either. Interchangeable equipment falls within the scope of the Machinery Directive 2006/42/EC. When the Machinery Directive is applied, the limits of the machinery are first determined in accordance with Annex I. In this context, it must also be taken into consideration whether appropriate marking is required when using the machine on public or private roads. The proposed standard contains the corresponding requirements. It is based on the relevant requirements for the lighting and marking of tractors and towed machinery in accordance with Annex XII of the delegated Regulation (EU) 2015/208 or UNECE Regulation No. 86.
