The aim of the requirements described in this experimental standard is to ensure the interchangeability of this sub-assembly with Self-Contained Breathing Apparatus (SCBA) which complies with the requirements of Type II of standard EN 137:2006.
The equipped cylinder may be able to be connected, under operational fire-fighting conditions, to a selfcontained respiratory protective device whose manufacturer's information manual authorises such a connection.
This experimental standard applies only to new equipped cylinders, before they are placed on the market, the configuration of which has already been approved as sub-assemblies of self-contained breathing apparatus of Type II in accordance with standard EN 137:2006.
This experimental standard applies to any type of cylinder body design for use in single-cylinder configuration.
The breathable air supply performance requirements of the equipped cylinders and their resistance to the conditions (thermal and mechanical) in which the SCBA is likely to be used are specified.
The marking and details concerning the manufacturer's information manual are also specified.
