CEN/TC 349 N329 - Activation PWI 00349031 (WD EN 15431-1) Bonding sealants - Part 1: Bonded glazing sealants)

Scope

This European Standard covers the requirements for and testing of sealants for use in one or more of the following applications:

a) Manufacturing of insulating glass units where direct ultra-violet resistance and mechanical resistance (Bonding use) of the insulating glass edge seal is required.

b) Manufacturing of factory-made bonded sealant glazing elements when referred to by the relevant European Standards and/or European Technical Approval Guidelines.

c) Assembling of glass products into or onto supports, where also direct ultra-violet resistance and/or mechanical resistance (bonding use) of the seal is required, under controlled environmental conditions as described in Clause 5 of EN 13022-2: 2006.

Purpose

Considering the results of the Systematic Review, CEN/TC 349 decides to revise the European standard EN 15434:2006+A1:2010 and to register the following preliminary work item:

- PWI EN 15434-1 "Bonding sealants – Part 1: Bonded silicone glazing sealants for direct UV exposure"

CEN/TC 349 agrees to prepare the standard EN 15434-1 in two steps:

- First step, to elaborate a "voluntary" standard without annex ZA;

- Second step, to consider the mandate when it will be available (Standardization Request) and to prepare the harmonized European standard (with the annex ZA).

The PWI will be activated when a first draft will be ready for the stage of CEN enquiry.
