Scope

This document specifies the requirements and test methods of a throw-bag for use in water safety and rescue.

This document does not cover the specifications for working at height, lifting or suspending a load.

Purpose

The intention is to create a standard to improve the quality of this rescue equipment so that manufacturers and users of the product can have confidence that it is safe to use and works, so it fulfils its purpose and reduces injuries/saves lives.

By doing so, it would also hopefully reduce the number of poor quality equipment currently able to enter the market.
