BS 4660:2000 “Thermoplastics ancillary fittings of nominal sizes 110 and 160 for below ground gravity drainage and sewerage”

Scope

“This British Standard specifies requirements for thermoplastics ancillary access fittings suitable for the construction of gravity drains and sewers, other than conventional branches, bends and couplers which are covered in BS EN 1401-1:2019. It is applicable to access fittings with nominal sizes of 110 and 160 together with necessary joints and accessories. Methods of test, associated guidance and information on quality control testing are given in Annex A, Annex B and Annex C..”

Purpose

This standard covers product manufactured for the UK market but not covered by EN 1401 or EN 13598. Products: Channel components – these are used to link drainage and sewerage pipes to concrete fabricated manholes. Examples are shown in Fig 1 of BS 4660: 2000. Adaptors to connect waste pipes of plastic and other pipe materials e.g. clay / cast iron – these are used to connect between a fittings or fittings and pipes, and widely used when connecting new pipework to old. Puddle flanges – these are used where pipes pass through the walls of any structure below groundwater level. Gullies and hoppers – these are used to captured discharge from domestic waste and rainwater systems. Access products such as plugs and caps – these are used to seal the access fittings.
