Scope

This document specifies requirements for tracheobronchial tubes used when isolation of the airways of one or both lungs is required.

Purpose

This is a NWIP to adopt the revision of this ISO version under the Vienna agreement process. The work will be carried out by ISO TC121/SC2.

This ISO standard is due for its systematic review and has been deemed to be too restrictive in its requirements as it only addressed the sizing and marking of those sizes. Tracheobronchial tubes have many more features that it was thought should be standardised. This revision adds these requirements, clarifies the marking requirements and has been re formatted to follow the ISO TC121/SC2 general requirements standard (ISO 18190) as is being done with all SC2’s standards as and when they are revised.
