ISO/TC 133 N 284, ISO/NP TS 3736-2 Digital fitting - Service procedure - Part 2: Part 2: Customized clothing online and off-line

Scope

This Technical Specification defines the application procedures for service of the distribution of customized clothing using a virtual human body.

Purpose

Recently, the long-accepted paradigm of mass production and uniform consumption has changed. Consumers' desire for personalized goods and services is increasing, and the market for customized clothing is growing. In the apparel fashion industry, unique products customized to individual taste and need have become a consumption trend. As the online and digital technologies that embody this trend mature, new customized clothing brands are rapidly emerging. These brands follow a process of product selection, customization, order, and customized production (production after pre-order), based on the successful model of new distribution services.

The global apparel fashion market is largely divided into ready-to-wear clothing and customized clothing markets. When the new distribution system is activated due to online market expansion, increased personal media, and social networking service (SNS) communication, the weight of customized clothing is expected to grow gradually for the foreseeable future.

Customized clothing services can be divided largely into size customization and design customization. Customized clothing services utilize virtual human body modelling easily and accurately, and can implement the fitting without having the customer directly try on the garment.

In the current industrial environment, the production, distribution, and consumption of products and services is rapidly shifting from producer to consumer. A new shopping service standard based on the service design methodology and process is required to increase satisfaction by providing a necessary solution for user needs in each stage of use.

This document specifies the service procedures for the distribution of customized clothing by using a virtual human body. This document supports standardization, including the process of customized clothing distribution services using a virtual human body, required equipment, required data, and stakeholders. This document will help service providers, including online and off-line retailers, brand managers, fashion designer and 3D shopping platform developers set up a service procedure for the distribution of customized clothing using a virtual human body.
