Purpose
The method for the determination of mercury has been discussed for a long time, at least before the 9th meeting (Mount Isa, 2000). For this period it has been reinstated at least twice. So, to continue with WG 14, it should be registered again, but the draft is ready to be published as an international standard. The standard is ready to be approved, with statistical evaluation of data and it indicates that the method achieved suitable precisions. Mercury in copper concentrates is an important parameter for commercial trade and the determination of it constitutes an important technique. The determination of mercury is so important that there are results of fourteen laboratories from seven member bodies (Australia, Brazil, Finland, Germany, Japan, Philippines and the United Kingdom) participated of the interlaboratory tests. Taking this into consideration, there is a need to have this international standard as part of TC 183, to be available for the users.
