ISO/TC 183 N1221 - ISO/NP 3483 Copper and zinc sulphide concentrates -- Determination of thallium -- Acid digestion and inductively coupled plasma -- mass spectrometry

Scope

a) for copper sulphide concentrates, the method is applicable to the determination of mass fractions of thallium from 0,0001 % to 0,0025%;

b) for zinc sulphide concentrates, the method is applicable to the determination of mass fractions of thallium from 0,0001 % to 0,025%.

Purpose

Thallium belongs to the rare and scattered metals are chalcophile elements often present in sulphide ores of copper and zinc. The toxic metal thallium is typical. Due to its strong cumulative, far higher than other heavy metals toxicity to mammals and lasting damage. Copper, lead and zinc sulphur concentrates of hazardous arsenic and cadmium have been or are about to have the international standard method. Because thallium is more harmful, more attention, so establish a simple, rapid and sensitive determination of thallium is necessary. At the same time the need to protect the environment for human life.
