Standards Development
This document specifies the classification, designation, technical requirements, test methods, inspection, packaging, marking and certificate for stainless steel wire ropes.
It is applicable to stainless steel wire ropes for instrument and mechanical transmission, cable, sling, shock absorber vibration in automotive, chemical, aviation, lifting, medical, railway, marine, fishing, fitness, decoration and other industries
With the development of global economy, the application area of stainless steel wire ropes has been gradually expanded and extended. Stainless steel wire ropes have been widely used in automotive, chemical, aviation, lifting, medical, railway, military and other industries. Due to the different industries and application, the materials, constructions and performance requirements of stainless steel wire ropes are different.
At present, there are some standards for stainless steel wire ropes in the world (for example, GB/T9944, GB/T2581, ASTMA368) and standards that includes stainless steel wire ropes in the scope (for example, MIL-DTL-87161F, RR-W-410E, JIS G3535). But due to the insufficient availability and applicability of existing standards, these standards didn't have enough guidance for the manufacturers and users of stainless steel wire ropes. So there is a phenomenon that the manufacturers and users of stainless steel wire ropes have no enforceable or applicable standards.
For example, China uses the EN standard (EN 12385) for trade with Germany or Australia, but the normative reference standard of this standard is EN 10264-2, which is for cold drawn non alloyed steel wire for ropes for general applications and not applicable for the production or trade of stainless steel wire ropes.
An unified international standard for stainless steel wire ropes will help the orderly development of stainless steel wire rope industry and guide the use of stainless steel wire rope users. This standard will fully identify and unify the requirements for the production and use of stainless steel wire ropes for the manufacturers and purchasers, to eliminate or reduce the communication barrier between the manufacturers and purchasers, and be conducive to the orderly development of stainless steel wire rope industry and guide the users to standardize the use.
