Standards Development
This part of ISO/IEC/IEEE29119 specifies software test documentation templates that can be used by any organization, project or smaller testing activity. It describes the test documentation that is an output of the processes specified in ISO/IEC/IEEE29119-2 Test processes.
This part of ISO/IEC/IEEE29119 is applicable to testing in all software development lifecycle models. This part of ISO/IEC/IEEE29119 is intended for, but not limited to, testers, test managers, developers, and project managers, particularly those responsible for governing, managing, and implementing software testing.
ISO/IEC/IEEE 29119-3 was first published in 2013. Since then it has been adopted by many organizations and is now widely used in industry. ISO systematic review has resulted in participating member bodies agreeing to keep the standard, with some member bodies suggesting areas for improvement.
JTC1/SC7/WG26 has agreed those areas where the existing standard needs to be improved. The purpose of this New Proposal is to improve ISO/IEC/IEEE 29119-3 in alignment with modifications to ISO/IEC/IEEE 29119-2 by adjusting the documentation to align with the simplified dynamic test process, adding clarity and removing minor mistakes.
