It defines software test design techniques (also known as test case design techniques or test methods) that can be used within the test design and implementation process that is defined in ISO/IEC/IEEE 29119 2 Test processes.
This part of ISO/IEC/IEEE29119 is applicable to testing in all software development lifecycle models. This part of ISO/IEC/IEEE29119 is intended for, but not limited to, testers, test managers, developers, and project managers, particularly those responsible for governing, managing, and implementing software testing.
ISO/IEC/IEEE 29119-4 was first published in 2015. Since then it has been adopted by many organizations and is now widely used in industry.
The purpose of this New Proposal is to improve ISO/IEC/IEEE 29119-4 to be in alignment with modifications to ISO/IEC/IEEE 29119-2 by adjusting the techniques to align with the simplified dynamic test process, adding clarity and removing minor mistakes. Two new test techniques and corresponding measures have also been added.
