Presently, two testing methods for pervious concrete, ISO 17785-1 Part 1 Infiltration Rate and ISO 17785-2 Part 2 Density and Void Content, have been published. The proposal for resistance of surface degradation is the continuation of the standardization work of the testing methods for pervious concrete. Following items will be contained in the standard 1) Scope 2) Test Sample Preparation 3) Test Procedure 4) Calculation 5) Referred standard.
Most important performance items of pervious concrete are physical quality such as permeability and durability. Further, it’s required to establish the testing regulation about peculiarity of decreasing durability influenced by weather. This test method is intended to evaluate the durability of pervious concrete by determining the potential resistance to degradation of the concrete. This method also contributes to asses a mixture resistance to surface distress performance evaluating w/c ratio, adequate compaction and curing procedure. During the test, the mass loss of specimens subjected to combined action of impact and abrasion in a rotating steel drum is measured. The mass loss as the difference between the original mass and the final mass of specimens is calculated to determine the resistance of surface degradation of pervious concrete.
