The test method applies to various emission test chambers used for the determination of the emission of volatile organic compounds from building products and furnishing.
ISO 16000-9 is adapted into national standards or used as ISO Standard in several countries. ISO/TC 146/SC 6 decided to start a major revision of ISO 16000-9 prior to the next systematic review because of the edge and temperature effects are important for emission testing of volatile organic compounds and aldehydes from building products and furnishing. During the practice of the current standard the following important weakness were identified:
• The method on the determination of the emission rate from the cutting edge of building products should be distinguished the emission rate from surface.
• In some countries, heating floors and walls are heated for heating, so the method of testing the temperature effects are needed.
