For each type, specifications are given for the sampling procedures, storage, and substrate used that can affect emission of volatile organic compounds. For individual products, the preparation of a test specimen for each type is prescribed.
ISO 16000-11 is adapted into national standards or used as ISO Standard in several countries. ISO/TC 146/SC 6 decided to start a major revision of ISO 16000-11 prior to the next systematic review because of the edge and temperature effects are important for emission testing of volatile organic compounds and aldehydes from building products and furnishing. During the practice of the current standard the following important weakness were identified:
• The preparation of a test specimen for the cutting edge emission should be included in the standard.
• The preparation of a test specimen for the temperature effects are needed.
