Why can't we simply decide what e term means and demand that everyone use that definition? Why are there dozens of almost identical definitions for basic terms at the countries?
The impetus for standardization of terminology is:
•Enhance of facilitate trade, both nationally and internationally;
•Permit more accurate and precise querying of database for information; and
•Produce higher grade terminology products for standards user, translators, and other communicators.
A terminology standard is a fundamental standard. Its purpose is to support the work of the other committees by providing them with the terminology to draft linguistically and conceptually consistent standards or documents.
A Terminology Standard is an agreement as to which technical terms will be used in a standard. It specifies the characteristics by which the selected terms are to be understood. It provides standardizing groups with the tools to draft terminologically and conceptually consistent standards. The glossary has been issued in a number of sections, according to subject matter, as follows:

3- Engineering classification of ricks
