ISO/NP 24451-1 Mining- Rock Mechanics –Part1: Terminology

Scope

This international standard specifies the commonly used terms in mining. Generally, only terms which have a specific meaning in this field have been included.

Purpose

Why can't we simply decide what e term means and demand that everyone use that definition? Why are there dozens of almost identical definitions for basic terms at the countries?

The impetus for standardization of terminology is:

•Enhance of facilitate trade, both nationally and internationally;

•Permit more accurate and precise querying of database for information; and

•Produce higher grade terminology products for standards user, translators, and other communicators.

A terminology standard is a fundamental standard. Its purpose is to support the work of the other committees by providing them with the terminology to draft linguistically and conceptually consistent standards or documents.

A Terminology Standard is an agreement as to which technical terms will be used in a standard. It specifies the characteristics by which the selected terms are to be understood. It provides standardizing groups with the tools to draft terminologically and conceptually consistent standards. The glossary has been issued in a number of sections, according to subject matter, as follows:

1- Terminology

2- Failure criteria

3- Engineering classification of ricks

In first step we submit part 1 and other parts will be submitted in the future
