ISO/TC 22 N 3889 Road vehicles -- Calibration procedure for displacement devices

Scope

This document describes the calibration procedure of displacement devices. The calibration is carried out with the sensor disassembled from the dummy. The procedure is for sensors with analogue as well as digital output. The displacement calibration is running according the classic calibration method for standard displacement devices like Dial gauges. This means that the calibration is carried out with a rising and falling ramp over the measuring range for the determination of non-linearity and hysteresis. In addition, the repeatability precision is determined at a measuring point that is approached from one direction.

Purpose

The specification of a uniform procedure for the calibration of displacement devices will produce more comparable calibration results
