This part of IEC 63093 specifies the dimensions that are of importance for mechanical interchangeability for a preferred range of balun-cores made of ferrite, as well as the effective parameter values to be used in calculations involving them. It also gives guidelines on allowable limits of surface irregularities applicable to both uncoated and coated balun-cores.
The selection of core sizes for this document is based on the philosophy of including those sizes which are industrial standards, either by inclusion in national standards, or by broad-based use in industry.
The specifications contained in this document are useful in negotiations between ferrite core suppliers and customers about surface irregularities.
Annex A discusses the use of derived standards that give more detailed specifications for the components, while still allowing compliance with this document.
Annex B gives general considerations for designing balun-cores.
Annex C gives the method for calculating the effective parameters and Amin for balun-cores.
Annex D gives the limits of allowable chipping areas for balun-cores.
