This document applies to security systems that use X-ray backscatter imaging to inspect cargo, vehicles, and containers.
Such inspection systems generally consist of radiation source(s), detectors, control system, image processing system, radiation safety system and other auxiliary devices/facilities.
The object of this document is to define general requirements and test methods related to performance, safety and other aspects of system functionality.
The document is not only applicable to the standalone X-ray backscatter systems, but also to the X-ray backscatter part of hybrid systems that use both transmission/backscatter or x-ray/neutrons, for example.
