Scope

This clause of Part 1 is applicable, except as follows:

Replacement of the third paragraph:

The rated voltage is not more than 250 V for single-phase a.c. or d.c. tools, and 480 V for three-phase a.c. tools.

Addition:

This document applies to transportable wall saws guided by a track guiding system and operated with or without a remote control, intended for

– wet cutting connected to a liquid system, or

– dry cutting

of concrete, stone or similar material by means of a diamond wheel. The rated speed of the diamond wheel does not exceed a peripheral speed of 100 m/s at rated capacity.

 

This document also applies to transportable wall saws guided by a track guiding system and operated with a remote control that can be converted into wire saws by equipping a cutting-off wire drive wheel to the saw unit, intended for

– wet cutting connected to a liquid system, or

– dry cutting

of concrete, stone or similar material by means of a cutting-off wire. The cutting-off wire is running in a continuous loop. The speed of the cutting-off wire does not exceed 40 m/s.

 

This document also applies to transportable wire saws operated with a remote control intended for

– wet cutting connected to a liquid system, or

– dry cutting

of concrete, stone or similar material by means of a cutting-off wire. The cutting-off wire is running in a continuous loop. The speed of the cutting-off wire does not exceed 40 m/s.

The tools are intended for the use of diamond or similar super abrasive accessories. The types of cutting accessories used in conjunction with the tools as described above fall within the design and instructions for use supplied by the manufacturer.

Requirements for hydraulic and pneumatic auxiliary systems in transportable wall saws and wire saws are not covered in this document.

NOTE 101:  Such auxiliary systems may be evaluated according to ISO 4413:2010 or ISO 4414:2010.

Requirements for electronic controls that allows an automatic change of the wall saws cutting direction without user intervention before any change of the cutting direction are not covered in this standard.

NOTE 102 Such electronic controls may be evaluated using the methods of ISO 13849-1:2023

This document does not apply to transportable wall saws and wire saws that are intended to be left unattended while performing an operation.

This document does not apply to hand-held cut-off machines.

NOTE 103 Hand-held cut-off machines are covered by IEC 62841-2-22.
