This document provides methodologies intended to confirm the performance of temperature / humidity test chambers when a test load or specimen is present. The information derived using these methodologies can be used to confirm, in a uniform and reproducible manner, the variations in temperature and humidity present within the climatic test chamber. This document is applicable to temperature only test chambers as well as temperature / humidity test chambers.
This document is specifically intended to be used with a test chamber containing a test load, or a chamber contain a test specimen undergoing testing. Confirmation of the performance of temperature / humidity test when the chamber is empty is addressed in IEC 60068-3-6:2018.
This document is particularly intended to be applicable when either the specimen(s) is large in comparison to the working space, is heat dissipating to an extent that it may modify the temperature variations around the specimen, or that the specimen significantly modifies the chamber airflow.
This document can be used in conjunction with IEC 60068-3-11:2007 to determine the uncertainties arising in the measurement of temperature and humidity within climatic test chambers. The analysis of these uncertainties exploits information derived from the measurement procedures described within this document and specified in detail in IEC 60068-3-6:2018.
The methodologies of this document also can be used provide information to allow the selection of a suitable test chamber for a specific combination of test procedure and specimens.
