Scope

Replace the sixth paragraph starting with “As far as is practicable…” with the following:

“This document deals with the reasonably foreseeable hazards of intended use presented by appliances and machines, which are encountered by all persons and domestic animals in and around the installation place or workplace.

”Convert the paragraph starting with “Attention is drawn to the…” into Note Z101.

Add the following new list item in the paragraph starting with “This document does not apply to”:

“—   gas, oil or solid fuel burning appliances (EN IEC 60335‑2‑102)”

Addition:

With European Amendment A11, EN 60335‑2‑49:2003+Cor1:2007+A1:2008+A11:2012+A2:2019+A12:2024 is superseded.

This European Amendment A11 supplements or modifies the corresponding clauses of the standards below:

— EN IEC 60335‑1:2023[1] (Part 1)

— EN IEC 60335‑2‑49:2026[2] (Part 2)

For the purpose of this document, the term “appliance” includes the term “machine” where applicable.

Additional requirements for appliances with power driven moving parts are given in Annex ZE.

This document not deal with any specific requirements on noise emitted from these appliances the generated noise is not considered to be a relevant hazard. Thus, the emission sound pressure level LpA is considered to be LpA ≤ 70 dB(A).

This document contains requirements for appliances with radio function, remote communication, and remote operation.

For the scope of this document, the term “radio appliance” is used with the same meaning of “radio equipment”.

For the scope of this document, the term “appliance” is used with the same meaning of “equipment”.Compliance with this Part 2 when used together with the Part 1 provides one means of conformity with the safety objectives as listed in Tables ZZA.1, Table ZZB.1 and Tables ZZC.1.
