Replace the paragraph starting from “As far as is practicable …” up to “…safely without supervision or instruction.” with the following:
“This document deals with the reasonably foreseeable hazards presented by appliances that are encountered by all persons and domestic animals, when this is not in contradiction with the intended use of the appliance.”
Convert the paragraph starting with “Attention is drawn to the…” into Note 101.
Add the following list item in Note 101:
“— in some countries, specific legislation covers surfaces and materials in contact with food.”
Secretary note: The above list item is requested because there is no harmonized standards or legislation that covers all types of materials in contact with food, but some European countries have national requirements.

Secretary’s note: The above addition has been moved from the Introduction (informative text) to the Scope (normative text) of the standard following discussions with the HAS consultants. According to an EC decision (document GROW.H.3/SM/MH/DT 12/1/2024), Part 1 must be referenced by date in Part 2. Consequently, the standard has been included in Clause 2, “Normative references”.
