This part of IEC 60793 establishes uniform requirements for measuring the coating geometry of optical fibres. Coating geometry dimensions are fundamental values that need to be known for subsequent procedures such as cabling, connectorization, splicing, handling and for making other measurements.
It can be noted that IEC 60793-1-20 is the RTM for fibre cladding diameter.
