This document applies to equipment consisting of
- a borehole logging probe equipped with isotope neutron source (during the actual measurements only)) or pulsed neutron generators and detector systems for measuring neutron-induced gamma radiation ;
- a coaxial cable with winch and depth control;
- other instruments and devices (power supply, signal processing unit, multichannel pulse amplitude analyzer, communication sub).
This document defines the terminology, specifies the types of apparatus, design and general technical requirements, specific radiation performance, electrical, mechanical, safe and environmental performance requirements. It also defines test and calibration procedures and covers electrical safety and radiation protection issues. Further, it gives recommendations about items included in the manufacturer's operation and maintenance documentation (or certificate).
The purpose of this document is to specify the design requirements and performance characteristics of geophysical borehole neutron-gamma spectroscopy instrumentation to analyse formation elemental dry weight and mineral contents.
Required form fields are indicated by an asterisk (*) character.
