Scope

This document specifies how the fines content and the loss of abrasion of pelletized carbon black pigments are determined by sieving. The methods are applicable for all types of pelletized industrial carbon blacks used as pigments.

Pelletized industrial carbon blacks that are used for rubber applications are tested as described in ISO 1435. Such carbon blacks are pelletized harder, as they have to withstand higher mechanical stresses during conveying. However, ISO 1435 does not describe the loss of abrasion.
