Scope

This standard specifies the minimum requirements for the design and verification of the performance of flexible pipe connectors in solar thermal power plants with parabolic trough collector technology. It also includes guidelines or aspects to be considered for the installation of these components in the solar field. In particular, the following are included:

–        Manufacturer's design requirements, instructions and tests

–        Installation requirements for flexible pipe connectors

–        Pressure drop test

–        Testing of stresses and longitudinal displacements and rotations

–        Thermal cycling test

–        Life cycle testing

–        Maximum torque test

–        Leakage verification testFlexible pipe connectors can be:

–        Rotary joints

–        Flexible hoses

–        Joints composed of flexible hoses and rotary joints

Other types and applications not explicitly mentioned in this document are outside the scope of this standard.
