Scope

This document describes the procedure for measuring the bending strength of crystalline silicon photovoltaic cells.

This test simulates the bending resistance of crystalline silicon photovoltaic cells when it is subjected to compressive stress on its front side. Test specimen resting on two supporting rollers, is deflected by means of loading rollers on the specimen midway between the supporting rollers. The test specimen is deflected in this way at a constant rate at midspan until rupture occurs or until a maximum stress is reached, whichever occurs first.

The purpose of this document is to provide an evaluation of the mechanical performance of the cell, and pass or fail  criteria shall be determined by the user of the standard.
