Scope

IEC 62635 provides a method to calculate the material recoverability rate of electrotechnical products based on end-of-life (EoL) treatment scenarios. This document sets up criteria and a format to describe the EoL treatment scenarios. Additionally, the method is applied for calculation of material recoverability rates of critical and environmentally relevant materials.

Furthermore, this standard also addresses:

  • Provision of product information from manufacturers to EoL treatment operators to improve material recovery rates
  • Provision for end-of-life treatment information to build EoL treatment scenarios
  • Provision of a default reference EoL treatment scenario
  • Examples of EoL treatment scenarios and the corresponding material recovery rates are provided.
