Scope

This document is applicable to wireless broadcast digital audio transmission systems for hearing aids in the 2,4 GHz (2,4 GHz to 2,4835 GHz) band. It covers from the interface where the audio signal is fed to the broadcast transmitter to the rendering of the transmitted signal by the hearing aid.

This document specifies requirements for transmitters, hearing aids acting as receivers, and equipment and measurement methods for verifying the performance of the system elements. Furthermore, a method for measuring the coverage of installed transmitters is specified.

All matters related to the design, set-up and signal conditioning of the audio system prior to the input to the broadcast transmitter are not covered by this document.

NOTE The measurement methods and requirements in Clause 5 are in part applicable for hearing devices other than hearing aids given that the rendered signal is delivered to the appropriate measurement set-up.
