Scope

This document provides processes for the integration of wearable physical assistive devices (exoskeletons) with the expression of needs, selection, design, assessment, deployment. All stakeholders should be involved at relevant stages of the process, for that reason they are concerned by this standard (user organisations, designers, manufacturers and integrators).

It focuses on the interaction between users and the exoskeleton with which they are equipped in work situations.

It concerns all sectors of activity and all sizes of organization.

NOTE The concept of an organization includes, but is not limited to, companies, public authorities, associations, charities and institutions under public or private law.

It applies to work situations but does not apply to exoskeletons used for therapeutic, rehabilitation, games, sport and leisure purposes. In case of use by workers with medical restrictions, a medical assessment is recommended.

It does not address quality control during design stage of the exoskeleton, nor does it provide information for its certification.
