Scope

The standardization of the injection sites of different animal species is related to many different species and various fields of interest.

Identification of domesticated ruminants with an injectable transponder provides a simple method of identification for competent authorities and veterinarians. Although injectable transponders are not designated as a primary choice for animals intended to enter the food chain, their use in both domesticated and wildlife animals is widespread and accepted as an alternative method of identification in many national and international regulations.

On the other hand, there are many ruminants not intended to enter the food chain that require a safe and reliable method of identification, which is not visible at plain sight, such as zoo, CITES, wildlife animals or those involved in cultural or religious expressions.

The aim of this standard is developed to define precisely injection site with all details to offer a safe injection, scanning, and removal at the slaughterhouse, if required, with a minimum depreciation of the value of the carcass.
