<p>This document specifies test methods for the measurement of the physical degradation of textile materials under the simulated industrial composting conditions in a laboratory scale.</p> <p>Degradation rates considered in this document are mechanical properties and surface area loss.</p> <p>Any pretreatment of textile materials is not allowed prior to testing.</p> <p>This method is not suitable to assess biodegradation or mineralization of textile materials.</p> <p>This method is intended for textile materials marketed as compostable or likely to enter industrial composting streams and not intended to evaluate durability of textile materials for non-compost end-of-life.</p>
